China Health Navigator
You've heard that China offers
world-class medicine, ancient
healing traditions, and wellness
experiences that cost a fraction
of what you'd pay in the West.
But where do you even start?
I help English speakers cut through the confusion — and make confident,
informed decisions about Chinese healthcare and wellness.
The information gap is real.
Fragmented, unreliable English information online
No way to know which hospitals, clinics, or wellness retreats are actually worth it
Cultural and language barriers that make navigation feel impossible
No one trustworthy to ask

Why China Is Worth Taking Seriously
This isn't alternative medicine hype. Here's the reality.
Years of Recorded Practice
Traditional Chinese Medicine has one of the longest continuously documented medical traditions in human history — with a clinical literature that Western medicine is only beginning to study systematically.
WHO Global Recognition
In 2019, the World Health Organization formally incorporated Traditional Chinese Medicine into the International Classification of Diseases — the first time TCM has been recognized in the global health standard.
Of Western Costs
Many procedures and treatments at top-tier Chinese hospitals — including surgeries, cancer treatment, and specialist consultations — cost a fraction of equivalent care in the US or Europe, without sacrificing quality.
Grade-A Hospitals
China's top-tier hospital system (三甲, or "Grade 3 Class A") includes over 3,000 institutions — many with internationally trained physicians, cutting-edge equipment, and wait times far shorter than in the West.
None of this means Chinese healthcare is right for everyone, or that every clinic is trustworthy. That's exactly why navigation matters.
About Me
I was born in China. I've built my life and career in the United States.
For years, I've watched the same frustration play out — American colleagues curious about TCM but with no one trustworthy to ask. Friends who've heard China has world-class medicine at a fraction of Western prices but have no idea how to begin.
I'm not a doctor. I'm not a wellness influencer with a brand deal. I'm a researcher and academic who lives at the intersection of these two worlds.
The Ming Well is my attempt to build the resource I wish had existed for everyone who's asked me: "Where do I even start?"
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a doctor?
No. I provide information and decision-support, not medical advice. Everything I share is meant to help you ask better questions and make more informed choices — not to replace a qualified healthcare provider.
Do I need to speak Chinese?
Not at all. That's exactly why I exist. My role is to bridge the language and cultural gap so you can access Chinese healthcare and wellness resources without needing to navigate them alone.
Do you accept payment from institutions you recommend?
Never. My only incentive is giving you accurate, unbiased guidance. I don't take referral fees, commissions, or sponsorships from any provider, clinic, or institution I mention.
Not sure which service I need?
Start with a free 15-minute Discovery Call — it's a no-pressure conversation to help us figure out the right path together. Or start with the free newsletter to see if my perspective resonates before committing to anything.
Is TCM scientifically proven?
It's complicated — and that's an honest answer. Some TCM practices have strong clinical evidence behind them (acupuncture for pain management, for example, is well-supported). Others are less studied or have mixed results. Part of what I do is help you understand which is which, so you can make decisions based on evidence rather than hype or dismissal.
How do I know I can trust your recommendations?
I don't take referral fees, commissions, or payments from any hospital, clinic, or practitioner I recommend — ever. My only incentive is giving you accurate, useful guidance. I also approach this as a researcher: I follow the evidence, acknowledge uncertainty, and tell you when I don't know something rather than guessing.
Can you help me if I'm not planning to travel to China?
Yes. Many clients come to me simply wanting to understand their options — not necessarily to book a trip. Whether you're researching TCM practitioners in your own city, trying to understand a diagnosis you received in China, or just curious about what Chinese medicine might offer, I can help you make sense of it.
What happens after the call?
Within 48 hours of your consultation, I'll send a follow-up email summarizing the key points we discussed, the specific resources or options I mentioned, and your agreed next steps. You'll have a written record of everything — not just a memory of a conversation.
